DIY Lavendar Sugar Scrub

If you suffer from dry and dull skin regardless of the season (like I do), take a few minutes to give your skin some well-deserved care this weekend. The main key to soft, smooth skin all over is exfoliation. After scrubbing your body with a natural exfoliant, such as a sugar scrub, your skin will remain smooth and soft for days.

Did you know that you can make your own scrubs at home with sugar and dried lavender flowers?

Not only will your body absorb the antioxidants and minerals from this scrub, but your nerves will be soothed from the stress-relieving properties of the scent of lavender. It’s also the perfect gift for your relatives and friends.

What you will need:

1 cup raw cane sugar or coconut sugar

1 tablespoon coconut oil

1/4 cup dried lavender flowers (from health food stores or your garden)

Empty glass jar

– In a bowl, combine the sugar and coconut oil with your hands, slowly mixing it all together as the coconut oil will melt and soften.

– Before you add the dried lavender flowers to the bowl, cup it the lavender in your hands and rub together, lightly crushing the lavender. This will bring out the scent and natural compounds from the lavender plant. If you don’t have dried lavender flowers on hand, you can use 6-8 drops of lavender essential oil as an alternative.

– Stir the lavender into the sugar and coconut oil until well mixed, then transfer into the glass jar.

– Use the scrub straight away in the shower or bath, or store for up to one month.
