I absolutely love a refreshing green juice, but the store bought variety can be a bit pricey and unfortunately they lose a lot of their nutritional value sitting in the packaging on the shelf for an extended period of time. To optimize nutrition and taste, I always recommend drinking your juice within 24-48 hours.
Along with this issue of storage, many juices are also loaded with fruits which, when broken down, can cause a blood sugar spike in our body similar to the effect of sweets.
When making juices I always opt for a ratio of 4:1. For every 4 greens, add 1 piece of fruit! It’s a simple tactic that allows for plenty of nutrients without a strong sugar hit, plus I don’t know about you but I find greens and green juices so sweet and satisfying!
Leafy greens are the richest in nutrients of any vegetable, providing us with plenty of essential vitamins and minerals. Apples are also amazing and are known to be great for digestion and detoxification.
This is my all-time favorite juice recipe and one that I make often. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
1 bunch of kale
1 bunch of spinach
1 large cucumber
A small handful of parsley
1 inch of ginger
Place all ingredients in the juicer one by one, mix well and enjoy!
