Elevation Smoothie – Your Healthiest Breakfast Smoothie

Everybody loves a grab and go breakfast, and smoothies are not only that but a food I consider the ‘gateway drug’ to healthy eating. Known for their simplicity and ability to adapt to various palates, they have remained a staple in my diet since my first days of exploring holistic nutrition and healthy eating.

The problem I have with many smoothies is that a lot of them are high in sugars from all the fresh fruit, leaving us with a crash only hours later. This crash and burn reaction isn’t much different than having a sugary cereal for breakfast. I now develop all my smoothies with specific components in mind and this smoothie is no different!

The elevation smoothie will keep you satisfied for hours, plus with an added bonus of using coffee, you get your daily boost of energy all combined into one. No more double fisting those morning beverages!

My favorite ingredient is the lucuma powder, which is a superfood that can be used as a sweetener but one that actually contains nutrients! Lucuma’s nutrients include beta-carotene, which converts to vitamin A for eye and skin health, and zinc for clear skin and strong immune function. Add that pinch of himalayan sea salt and you also boost your electrolyte balance.

Prepare to feel elevated all day!

RECIPE

Elevation Smoothie

  • 1 ½ C almond milk
  • 3-4 ice cubes
  • 1 scoop of coffee protein powder (if you don’t have coffee protein powder, use vanilla or chocolate; also reduce first ingredient almond milk to 1C and add in ½ C of freshly brewed coffee)
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tsp lucuma powder
  • ¼ C raw, unsalted pecans
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp cardamom
  • Pinch of himalayan sea salt

Place all ingredients in a blender, and blend until smooth or desired consistency is reached.

Happy sipping!
